
The New York Times calls it a generational shift. After four decades of James Levine as Music Director, the Metropolitan Opera has announced his successor and he is the 41-year-old “conductor with the turtle tattoo”, Yannick Nezet-Seguin. The likeable French Canadian is currently Music Director of the Philadelphia Orchestra and that gig will continue in parallel with his duties at the MET. Nezet-Seguin, who first conducted at the MET in 2009, says the appointment is “a dream come true”. Read the full NYT article.
