The Bay Area’s Arts Community boasts hundreds of organizations: music, theater, dance, visual arts, digital arts, and many that are breaking new ground in ways that are hard to classify! Many of these groups are small with shoe-string budgets and limited resources, so their inspired and sometimes groundbreaking work often goes virtually unnoticed. Click here to apply!

The Arts Guild of Sonoma
Founded 40 years ago, the Arts Guild of Sonoma is a public educational arts organization and one of the state’s oldest continuously operating artist’s cooperatives. The Arts Guild of Sonoma regularly organizes arts events for local schoolchildren, offers gallery space to new artists, and has a membership of more than 30 artists who exhibit their works every month in the gallery. Their community outreach in 2017 has included fundraisers for the pet rescue shelter and Boys and Girls’ clubs, as well as free gallery space for local high school students to display their art.

Slavyanka Russian Chorus
Founded nearly 40 years ago by non-Russian Americans who shared a love of Russian music, the Slavyanka Russian Chorus is a musical family that has grown to include both Russian Americans and non-Russian Americans. Though they rehearse and perform primarily in San Francisco, the Slavyanka Russian Chorus is comprised of 35 singers from all over the Bay Area and has performed in Boston, Russia, and Eastern Europe. Performing 3-4 concert series’ annually, they feature music from the many choral traditions of Russia and Eastern Europe in an effort to understand and share the cultural history behind the music they present; and to contribute to international and intercultural understanding through choral music.

Contra Costa Chorale
Contra Costa Chorale is a nonprofit organization open to singers of all ages, backgrounds, and musical experience. Committed to a high level of performance, the Contra Costa Chorale promotes the timeless tradition of choral singing as a community builder, committed to making beautiful music by listening to each other, finding harmony with each other–and finally, by sharing their music with others. Their just established Directors’ Fund will continue to expand the Chorale’s presence in the greater community by providing funds to West Contra Costa Unified School District for choral music needs.

Music for Minors II East Bay
Founded in 1989, Music for Minors II East Bay’s mission is to nurture the love and literacy of music in children’s classrooms and lives by trained community volunteers, providing performance opportunities for children at school sites and on professional stages throughout the community. With 81 trained volunteer music docents making the musical difference in over 4500 children’s lives, these music messengers reach the children with the greatest need- thousands of children who would otherwise not have music in their classrooms or their lives.

The Artists Guild of San Francisco
The Artists Guild of San Francisco serves to bring art and artists into the community for public interaction and education, and to help artists develop the skills to sustain themselves with art as their full-time career. In the fifty years since its founding, the Artists Guild has developed into a venue that supports professional gallery-quality artists, allowing them to survive and thrive in San Francisco. The Artists Guild sponsors weekend art exhibitions in city parks such as Union Square, Maiden Lane, Huntington Park, the Music Concourse in Golden Gate Park, as well as Washington Square in North Beach, Yerba Buena Gardens, and the Marina Green. It’s membership reflects the diversity of the area as well as artwork that reflects that diversity of experience.

ArtsSpark
Founded in 2010 to ignite widespread creative expression by empowering and equipping artists and creators to make a living on their own terms, ArtSpark teams up with creative-sector organizations to offer online and live versions of their Artist Business Canvas, a customized business model development process that supports successful making, marketing and selling of creative work, and has been completed by 100+ artists & creators to date. Since its inception, ArtSpark has catalyzed 300+ artists, creators and creative entrepreneurs with live workshops & webinars on social media, communications, fundraising, audience development, analytics & more.

Artspiration Santa Clara County
Artspiration is a Santa Clara County Initiative supporting professional development, advocacy, and student engagement in the visual and performing arts. It’s a community backed movement to return creativity and innovation to our students through the arts, with strategies developed by a team of administrators, teachers, parents, students, artists and community leaders. Artspiration is part of the California Arts Education Alliance and dedicated to showcasing students, providing visual and performing arts, and professional development.

Cambrian Symphony
Formed in 2014, Cambrian Symphony is dedicated to supporting and mentoring young musicians by engaging students in performance side by side with professionals. Through this unique collaboration, Cambrian Symphony strives to share the joy of creating music not only with its audiences, but with the next generation of musicians. By pairing students with professional adult musicians who act as mentors for the students, they attract well-known and up and coming soloists and composers. They are the only live orchestra to be paired with San Jose Dance for the South Bay’s yearly Nutcracker performance.
