To help celebrate its tenth anniversary, Voices of Music is presenting a series of concerts this weekend with the San Francisco Early Music Society, including Pergolesi’s Stabat Mater. Hanneke van Proosdij and David Tayler founded the ensemble, and as its directors have helped it grow from a local period music group to being one of the most popular libraries of videotaped performances.

“When we started out, we just wanted to make music with musicians, and do projects that we weren’t otherwise able to do,” Hanneke van Proosdij says. “We had no clue the road that we were going to take, and looking back, it’s been an amazing road.One of the new things that we did with our group was we started videotaping our concerts and started putting it on line.” With almost 45-thousand subscribers to their YouTube channel, and hundreds of performances from the past decade, they recently reached their 26 millionth viewer online. “Those are numbers that are just mind-boggling. We had no clue that was going to be our road, and it’s been really exciting.” They’re uncharacteristically taking this opportunity to look back, and programming Pergolesi’s Stabat Mater and ‘a couple of big hits’ on the program, including guest violinist joining them for Vivaldi’s ‘Summer.’ Here she is playing another of the Four Seasons, ‘Winter,’ from her performance with them in late 2015:
