It started with 320 video auditions, which attracted 10,071 votes for 20 semi-finalists, which lead to six finalists performing for $5,000. The first-ever KDFC Classical Star Search ended April 28 with a magnificent event at the Palace of Fine Arts Theatre.

And the Bay Area’s newest classical stars are: Rieko Tsuchida and Percy Liang.

KDFC thanks all the aspiring artists who participated, including our very talented finalists Mariechristine Lopez, Victoria Kwong, Heidi Moss Sali and John Levine.

The night included a performance (and a few choice ad-libs) by Lang Lang, guest judges Dianne Nicolini and Michael Morgan, and host Hoyt Smith.
